Accessible Accommodation – The best of both worlds just over 2 hours from Sydney.
Just two hours’ drive from the hustle and bustle of Sydney lies Bangalay Villas. A stunning resort nestled between the beach and the bush in Shoalhaven Heads NSW. Beach House (at Bangalay Villas) is an exceptionally accessible holiday home with sea views, offering you the best of both worlds. Ensconced in the privacy of your own holiday home, yet still a part of all the resort has to offer, such as fine dining, massages and beautiful swimming pool.
The owners Neil and Paola discovered this seaside village, Shoalhaven Heads in New South Wales and instantly fell in love with the tranquil seaside charm. They set about building a luxury holiday home with sea views and a strong focus on wheelchair accessibility that works well for multi-generational families. Both foodie lovers, the proliferation of farm to table cuisine added to the appeal of the region. The couple particularly enjoys beach fishing and long walks with their adorable Dachshund Dash along the pet-friendly beach. And, now you can do the same.
No need for wheelchair users to feel restricted to just one part of the home, as there is an internal 3-person lift. Glide fluidly from the entrance, through the several living spaces, outdoor BBQ area, bathroom and bedrooms. Included are low rubber ramps situated where there is a slight lip of 4 cm at the external doors to the level 1 BBQ deck. A Shower chair, fixed and adjustable grab bars as well as a roll-in shower, all complete the welcoming feel for people with mobility challenges. Furthermore, the crew at Bangalay Villas are happy to help you book a carer in the local area to assist you if need be, or if additional equipment needs to be hired. Picture yourself there by clicking on this video. Click HERE.
Neil and Paola are pet lovers too. Their beloved Dash is the star of the show. They welcome well-behaved puppy dogs who are past chewing stage and toilet trained. Furthermore, there are several pet-friendly walks and beaches. There is a 24 Hour off-leash exercise area on the beach which is 200m north of Surf Clubhouse, as well as Off-leash exercise area (with restricted times) at the Jerry Bailey reserve. There are some protected areas for bird breeding in a nature reserve where pets are not allowed. Click HERE for more details. Also, there is free beach wheelchair hire (for humans)!
The holiday house is managed by the adjacent resort Bangalay Luxury Villas. This is absolutely the perfect blend of privacy of your own large holiday rental yet taking advantage of the resort amenities such as in-house massages and fine dining.
